Sound of the Natural State
For over 95 years, The Sound of the Natural State has played a vital role in the campus
experience at A-State. Known for their vibrant performances and unparalleled musicianship,
this talented group of over 180 students represents the pride and spirit of Red Wolves
Nation.
Practice & Performance
The SOUND performs at all home football games, occasional away games, and all bowl
games. They also host the A-State Open, a marching festival for high schools. We rehearse
Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 3 - 5 p.m. Drumline and Color Guard also have
an additional 1-hour sectional per week. Each wind section has occasional sectionals
throughout the season organized by student leadership.
The SOUND & A-State Bands program has an excellent scholarship program available to
students of all degree programs. If you are interested in a scholarship, contact Dr. Allegra Fisher.

drumline to color guard and twirlers, each playing a vital role in the A-State band
experience.
Woodwinds & Brass
Woodwinds and brass form the musical foundation of the band, delivering the sound,
power, and precision that define each performance.
Drumline
The drumline drives the band with energy and rhythm, providing the heartbeat that
unifies the ensemble on the field and in the stands.
Color Guard & Twirlers
Color guard and twirlers add visual impact and storytelling that elevate the band’s
overall presentation.
Auditions are required for music majors to be admitted into the program. They are
also required for any student with any degree path to receive a scholarship.
