Wide Offering of Ensembles

Wind Ensemble
The A-State Wind Ensemble is made up of approximately 50 of the finest graduate and undergraduate musicians at Arkansas State University. The ensemble’s unique structure features one or two musicians performing each part written by the composer, creating a flexible format well suited for exploring a wide range of instrumental combinations and musical styles. While most members are music majors, non-music majors are encouraged to audition and compete equally for positions. The Wind Ensemble presents two to three concerts each semester.
Schedule
The Wind Ensemble is conducted by Dr. Nicholas Balla and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 12:30 to 2:50 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.

Symphonic Winds
The A-State Symphonic Winds is made up of accomplished wind and percussion musicians from across the university, including both music majors and non-majors. The ensemble performs traditional and contemporary repertoire and presents two concerts each semester. Auditions are held during the first week of classes in August and January for fall and spring semester placement.
Schedule
The Symphonic Winds is conducted by Dr. Andrew Bohn and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 3:00 to 4:50 p.m. during the fall semester and on Mondays and Wednesdays from
3:00 to 5:00 p.m. during the spring semester.

Concert Band
The A-State Concert Band is made up primarily of non-music majors and music education majors performing on secondary instruments. The ensemble performs traditional and contemporary repertoire and presents two concerts during the spring semester. Auditions are held in January for spring semester placement.
Schedule
The Concert Band is conducted by Dr. Allegra Fisher and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 3:30 to 4:50 p.m. during the spring semester.
