Exhibits

A-State Museum offers immersive exhibits highlighting the landscapes, wildlife, and cultural traditions that have shaped Northeast Arkansas and the Northern Mississippi River Delta. With two floors of exhibition space there is lots to explore and enjoy!

The Mighty Mastodon, 1st Floor Gallery

In this gallery visitors can discover the ancient life and earth forces that created this region.

The Arkansas landscape has changed over millions of years. This gallery features fossils of early life including examples of the aquatic species that once lived in the ancient seas that covered much of what is now United States. Guests can also learn how earthquakes in the New Madrid Earthquake zone helped shape the landscape and lives of those in this area.

This space is dominated by our life-sized reproduction of one of the largest creatures to roam the area, a mastodon. Over 10,000 years ago, Arkansas was home to a wide variety of now extinct large animals, including mammoths, mastodons, llamas, and giant beavers.

Captivating Spaces, 2nd Floor Main Gallery

With over 13,000 square feet of space, the museum’s second floor main gallery transports visitors through specialized exhibit cases and absorbing spaces. Visitors are invited to dive deep into our peoples, places, and things.

Museum guests can see the fan favorite albino animal display, the powerful Portals of the Soul: Ancient Peoples of Northeast Arkansas, stroll the wooden boardwalk of shops in Old Town, and tune into Rockabilly: The Northeast Arkansas Story.

But wait! There’s more. Come and see!

This floor also hosts our Tinkering Studio, museum offices, and Gift Shop where every purchase supports our mission.
