We are very excited that you are taking the next step in either learning a new language or enhancing a skill that you might have been working on and want extra support! With this program, you will get first-hand experience with one of our tutors who are from Japan or Korea. They will be able to give you one on one attention to give you the ultimate language immersion experience. Please read the important information below to see if this language program is right for you!
Hours
Tutees will complete 36 hours of learning throughout the semester by having a 3-hour session per week for 12 weeks. If you miss a session, there are no make-up lessons allowed.
Lessons
The curriculum of the program can be changed in accordance with the language proficiency and interest of the students. Any change made in the curriculum must be approved by the International Programs.
Languages
You will either be able to choose to take Korean or Japanese.
Costs
Non-refundable $500 program fee
Schedule
The schedule of sessions will be assigned by the International Programs with times set between 8 am to 5 pm on a weekday. However, tutors may adjust the schedule for each tutoring class in discussion with their tutees.
Location
Sessions will be held inside of the International Programs building.
Dates
Start date and other details will be given to students after being accepted as a student at Arkansas State University
Benefits
The tutees will also receive a certificate stating that they are beginner conversational in the language taught by the International Program Office.
The class will have a maximum of three students and will give the tutees the opportunity to get the attention they need in order to learn the language which they are pursuing.
Refund Policy
The International Programs Office will not issue a refund for a student who has already started the course and decides to quit the program. If the student contacts the department before the course starts, a refund can be issued.
Due date for application is May 1, 2022.
Due date for the non-refundable $500 fee is July 15, 2022.
