Maxwell Brooks Dyslexia Scholarship

Amount: $1,000

Criteria:

  • Full-time, upper level student with at least 30 completed hours
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.75
  • Must be an Arkansas resident. FIRST preference given to Craighead county students.
  • Application includes proof to the selection committee use of services provided by Disability Services office & other resources on campus such as, tutor services, advising services, individual meetings with faculty, etc.
  • Two letters of recommendation from an adult (non-relative) who can testify academic abilities, character, and volunteer experience: a principal, school counselor, or teacher, and another form of non-relative adult who has known the applicant more than six months.
  • Brief essay/bio about the positive impact of having dyslexia

John T. Clements III Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $500

Criteria:

  • Students with profound physical disabilities with preference given to students with Cerebral Palsy
  • Incoming freshman or currently enrolled full-time with a minimum of 2.5 overall GPA (4.0 scale)

Ruby I Reng Memorial Scholarship

Amount: Annual award based on interest earned from the endowment.

Criteria:

  • Students must have completed at least 45 hours at Arkansas State University.
  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must express intent to graduate from ASU & be a full-time student during the award period.
  • Financial need will be considered.
  • Finalists will be interviewed before award is made.

Mays Mission Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Physical or mental disability
  • 18 or better on ACT
  • 3 GPA or better
  • Enrolled in 4-year program
  • Submit grades each semester
  • Other considerations may be included

Arkansas Rehabilitation Services Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Must be a student with a disability
  • Must be enrolled in or planning to take at least 12 credit hours each semester
  • Must apply for services in the county in which you live
  • Must be eligible for gainful employment after graduation

Arkansas Game & Fish Conservation Scholarship

Amount:

  • $2,000 per year for college freshmen/sophomores
  • $3,000 per year for college juniors/seniors

Deadline: June 01

Criteria:

  • Pursuing a degree in the field of natural resources conservation
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Applicants must be attending school in Arkansas

Amount: $500.00

Criteria:

  • Must be an Arkansas resident

BRMC Baker Nursing Education Scholarship

Amount: Contact Baxter Regional Medical Center

Criteria:

  • The scholarship is for students pursing degrees for LPN, RN or BSN.
  • The Arthur F. Baker and Bonny B Baker Nursing Education Scholarship Trust Fund was established to assist area students with education expenses who are going into the nursing field

BRMC Caroline Austino Medical Scholarship

Amount: Contact Baxter Regional Medical Center

Criteria:

  • Employment at Baxter Regional Medical Center is not required
  • Education must be for any medical profession
  • Demonstrate financial need

BRMC Kerr Medical Student Scholarship

Amount:

  • Scholarships will be presented annually to students enrolled in an accredited medical program leading to a degree of medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy.

Deadline: September 01

Criteria:

  • Students must demonstrate permanent residency in the Baxter Regional service area, including the Arkansas counties of Baxter, Marion, Fulton, Izard, Sharp, Stone and Searcy, and Ozark County in Missouri.

BRMC Nelson Nursing Scholarship

Amount: Contact Baxter Regional Medical Center

Criteria:

  • Application Open November 1st to December 31st
  • The William H. Nelson Nursing Scholarship was established to assist students from Baxter or Marion County with education expenses who are going into the nursing field
  • The scholarship is for students pursing degrees for LPN, RN or BSN.

Arkansas EMS Foundation Scholarships

Amount:

  • Up to $750 for EMT
  • Up to $2,000 for Paramedic programs

Deadline: June 30

Criteria:

  • Must maintain at least a "C" average and remain in good standing throughout the course

AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability

Deadline: March 1, 2023 (application opens September 1, 2022)

Criteria:

  • Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and must have completed one full year of college or more. In other words, the applicant must have sophomore or greater status in a program at a college or university pursuing an undergraduate degree as of fall 2023; or enrolled part-time or full-time in a graduate school, pursuing a post graduate degree as of fall 2023.
  • Applicant must have a disability as defined by the American with Disabilities Act and must provide documentation to verify this.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in public health, disability studies, health promotion or a field related to disability and health.
  • Preference will be given to students with a history of community service and/or volunteer activities.
  • Applicant must be a US citizen or legal resident living in the United States and enrolled in an accredited United States university

** Applicants who have not yet graduated from high school will not be considered. High school students entering college, for the first time, in the fall of 2023 are NOT eligible to apply. The only exception would be for high school students who have achieved sophomore status via high school AP course credits. **

ABBVIE Immunology Scholarship

Deadline: Application will re-open in October 2022

Criteria:

  • A US citizen or a legal and permanent resident of the USA
  • Diagnosed with AS, CD, HS, JIA, Ps, PsA, RA, UC, or UV by a healthcare professional
  • Planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Applicants must have completed high school or obtained a General Education Development (GED) certificate before the end of June 2021.

Those who do not receive a scholarship are allowed to reapply in the following years.

American Speech/Language Hearing Foundation Graduate Scholarship

Deadline: Opens in 2023

Criteria:

  1. The applicant must be accepted for, or enrolled in, graduate study in a communication sciences and disorders program in the United States. Clinical doctoral programs in audiology or master's programs in speech-language pathology must be accredited by, or in candidacy status from, the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology; this does not apply to research doctoral programs.
  2. The applicant must be enrolled in full-time study for the full academic year.
  3. The applicant must submit university transcripts of academic coursework, credits, grades, and grade point average (GPA).
  4. The applicant must have three confidential letters of recommendation. The letters can be from a combination of academic faculty and work references, depending on the applicant’s specific situation. The letters of recommendation should meet the following requirements: 
      1. Applicants who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program: At least two letters must be from academic faculty at the applicant's current undergraduate college or university program.
      2. Applicants who are currently enrolled in a graduate program: At least two letters must be from academic faculty. These letters can come from faculty at the applicant’s current or past college or university program.
      3. Applicants who are returning to school from the workforce: It is acceptable to have letters from colleagues (and at least one supervisor) at the applicant’s current place of employment, as well as letters from references who are familiar with the applicant’s academic history and potential.
  5. The applicant must not have received a prior scholarship from the ASH Foundation.

The Special Education Scholarship

Amount: $500 

Deadline: August 01

Criteria:

This scholarship program is for students who are majoring in special education. The applicant is required to have a major in special education and must be scheduled to take at least one major-required class in the upcoming fall semester. We will need additional documentation confirming the applicant is currently a special education major as well as a copy of their schedule showing at least one major-required class. This scholarship is for undergraduate students only.

Explain why you are pursuing a degree in special education and how you plan to make a difference in the lives of the disabled.

Guthrie-Koch Scholarship

Deadline: Available after October 30, must be submitted online by February 01

Criteria:

Scholarships are open to any college-age young person with PKU who is on diet treatment and is not in graduate school (the scholarship is now open only to undergraduates, a change from previous years due to financial reasons). Residents of any country are eligible to apply, but the application must be in English or translated into readable English.

Applicants must be accepted to an accredited college or technical school before the scholarship is awarded, but may apply for the scholarship before acceptance is confirmed.
