Juniors
- Begin researching universities, requesting information, visiting websites, attending college fairs, and on-campus preview days.
- Students should be encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT during their junior year.
- Meet with students to review courses and credits, college information, and senior year classes to ensure curriculum requirements are met for schools they are considering.
- Remind students to continue with college preparation and plans throughout the summer.
Seniors

Visit Campus
While on campus, students can meet with a recruitment advisor and take a campus tour led by a student ambassador.
Attend an A-State Preview Day
On Preview Days, students will have the opportunity to meet with their academic area of interest, speak with financial aid, take a campus tour, eat lunch in the Acansa Dining Hall and much more.
Take and Retake the ACT.
Students should take the October ACT - the last opportunity to raise test scores for our institutional scholarships. Remember: December tests do not count toward scholarship decisions at ASU!
Discuss College Plans and Review Application Deadlines and Requirements with Students
If a student is applying to a university that requires an essay for admission, remind students to finalize their essays. High school English teachers are great resources for the editing process.
Encourage Students to Ask for Recommendation Letters
These letters will be handy when applying for scholarships for which they are required. Letters should come from counselors, teachers, employers or organization leaders. Remember: Students should give people plenty of time to write letters of recommendation letters for them.
Apply for Admission
The application is not complete until we receive all related documents. Students have to submit two MMR records to be able to enroll in classes. Remember: The application deadline for scholarship eligibility is December 1.
Apply for Institutional Scholarships
The application for admission to ASU is also the application for institutional scholarships at ASU (with the exception of the ASTATE Scholar, which requires a student resume and two reference letters). Remember: Students must be fully admitted to the university by December 1 to be considered eligible for any of our institutional scholarships!

Apply for University Housing
Because 1100 freshmen live on campus, it is important for students to apply for housing early to ensure that they are placed in their first choice for a residence hall. The application process for housing at ASU opens in October for admitted students. Remember: Students should be honest when completing their "Profile" in the Housing Portal in order to choose a roommate.

Remind Students to Complete Their Applications for Housing
Space is limited in all of our residence halls, so it is important to complete this process as early as possible.
January
Register for New Student Orientation
Remind students that the earlier they attend an NSO session, the more likely they are to get into the classes they want to take at the times they want to take them!
Encourage Students to Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Send 7-Semester Transcripts to Colleges Who Have Requested Them

Register to take AP Exams if applicable.
Students could get college credit for some of their Advanced Placement courses. Remember: The deadline to register for AP Exams usually falls between February and March. Keeping students informed of the procedures, deadlines and requirements for credits is important.
