Biography
Johnathan Reaves is the faculty advisor and editor-in-chief for Delta Digital News Service, and he is the former News Director at KASU Public Radio. Coming from an Air Force family, he relocated to Arkansas from Minot, North Dakota, in 1986. Reaves is a 1992 graduate of Gosnell High School in Gosnell, Arkansas. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he worked at KOSE, a small 1,000-watt AM commercial station located in Osceola, Arkansas. After earning his degree in Radio-Television Broadcast News from Arkansas State University in 1996, he chose to continue in radio news. He then moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas, where he worked as a news director for East Arkansas Broadcasters for 16 years.
In 2011, Reaves joined KASU as the Morning Edition anchor and news producer. He also pursued his graduate degree at Arkansas State, obtaining a Master of Science in Mass Communication in August 2014. Reaves was appointed KASU's news director in August 2015.
He is a recognized journalist with multiple awards. His contributions to public radio have been acknowledged by the Arkansas Associated Press Broadcasters Association and the Arkansas Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Reaves has served as a Small Station Representative and Board President for the Public Media Journalists Association.
In his leisure time, he enjoys being with his wife, Jennifer, and daughter, Emily.
