Biography
Dr. Wilcox completed his BSN at Arkansas State University in 2002. He worked in acute care until 2003 when he transitioned to long-term care. There he worked as an RN case manager serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the Jonesboro Human Development Center. During this time, he worked with the Medical Director, and physicians from various specialties coordinating care for the residents. He completed his MSN in 2009 at Arkansas State University. In the fall of 2009, Dr. Wilcox transitioned to Arkansas State University to teach didactic and clinical courses in the Traditional and Second Degree Accelerated BSN programs. During this time, he served as Faculty Advisor to the Student Nurses Association. While in this role the Student Nurses’ Association earned the National Student Nurses’ Association Stellar School Chapter recognition in 2013. He completed the DNP Educational Leadership at American Sentinel University in 2018. In September of 2018, Dr. Wilcox was persuaded to return to bedside nursing at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, AR on the medical-surgical unit where he taught clinicals. During this time, he was able to combine his passion for bedside nursing with teaching when he would precept new RN graduates, Nurse Interns, and nursing students participating in clinicals. In fall of 2024 he accepted an Adjunct Faculty role with Arkansas State University for BSN medical-surgical clinicals. In January 2025, Dr. Wilcox returned to Arkansas State University full-time to teach BSN medical-surgical clinical.
