Biography

Dr. Hill serves as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research in the Neil Griffin College of Business at Arkansas State University. He has worked collaboratively with faculty and administrators since 2020 to strengthen existing graduate degree programs and to create new degrees and concentrations that align with market needs.

As a researcher, Dr. Hill’s work examines corporate liquidity management, corporate political connections, and real estate investment trusts (REITs). He has received multiple research awards and grants and has published in many of the leading academic journals in finance, including Financial Management (3X), Journal of Banking and Finance (2X), Real Estate Economics, Journal of Financial Research (2X), Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics (4X), Journal of Real Estate Research (3X), and the Financial Review, among others. He is co-author of Short-Term Financial Management (Cognella, 6th edition, with T. Maness and J. Zietlow)—the only academic textbook dedicated to firm liquidity and working capital management—adopted by more than fifty universities across North America and Europe.

Beyond academia, Dr. Hill is passionate about the practical application of finance. Since 2014, he has served as a consultant for the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), leading in-person and virtual training programs on liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, and FP&A best practices for organizations such as Regions Bank, Bank of Montreal, Capital One, Johnson and Johnson, Michelin, Oracle, and PNC Bank. He also partners with AFP in curriculum development, serving as co-editor of Essentials of Treasury Management, 5th Edition—the official body of knowledge for the CTP exam from 2017 to 2020—and as lead author of the FPAC Exam Prep Platform, 3rd Edition. Dr. Hill has also consulted for the CFA Institute and the Institute for Management Accountants (IMA).

Dr. Hill proudly uses his finance and leadership experience in community service. He has served on the budget committee of Highland Drive Baptist Church (2020-2023), the club board at Ridgepointe Country Club (2023-current) and the board of directors for Ridgefield Christian School (2021-current).

As a member of the Ridgefield Christian School board of directors—and board chair since 2023—Dr. Hill has led strategic initiatives to ensure the school’s long-term sustainability and mission alignment. His efforts have focused on developing and evaluating annual operating budgets, strengthening financial stewardship, and guiding data-informed decision-making to support enrollment growth and program quality. Dr. Hill has collaborated closely with administrators, fellow board members, and the Warrior Foundation’s board of directors, to review and refine marketing strategies, guide fundraising efforts to expand institutional resources, and establish structured hiring processes for key leadership positions, including the national search committee that successfully appointed the current Head of School.

He is married to Dr. Katerina (Katie) Hybnerova-Hill, and they have three children (Mason, Connor, and Henleigh).
