English Learning Academy Admissions

If you are an international student looking to improve your English, you are in the right place. Admissions to the English Learning Academy (ELA) will set you up to succeed in academics and life here at Arkansas State University.

What do you need to have to get into ELA at A-State? It depends on what you’re looking for.

ESL-only Students

There is no minimum grade point average.

ESL + Undergraduate Freshmen Students

The minimum grade point average required is a 2.3/4.0 on secondary/high school work.

ESL + Undergraduate Transfer or Post-Degree Students

The minimum grade point average required is a 2.0/4.0 on post-secondary/university/college work.

ESL + Graduate Students

The minimum Grade Point Average will be determined by the department.

Create an account under First-Time Users.
Verify your account.

Complete Application

Step 2

Note which educational level you have marked for ESL.
Select the term you will be starting here.
Fill out all of the required fields, including where you plan to attend.
Select your major and your degree.
List any previous high schools and colleges/universities/post-secondary institutions you have attended.
Sign, review, and submit your application.

Head to the myDen Student Portal

Step 3

Pay your application fee.
Upload your documents.
Come back and check on the status of your admission.

Make Your Decision!

Step 4

Once you have submitted all of your documents, you will receive a decision within 24 to 48 hours of completion, unless you have selected ESL + Graduate, for which we will have to email the graduate program advisor to request permission for admission. Processing time here can vary.
Once you receive our decision, it’s your turn to decide!

The English Learning Academy is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation for the period December 2017 through December 2027 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions.
