The Student Health Center — operated by the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine at A-State — provides comprehensive care for students at a discounted rate. From operating hours to services provided, get the info you need for your visit.

What to Know Before You Go

Eligibility

All currently enrolled  Arkansas State University students—part-time or full-time—of the Jonesboro campus can use the Student Health Center. Some services may require a referral outside of the health center for lab tests, x-rays, or counseling.
The Centennial Bank Stadium is a helpful landmark for when you’re looking for the Student Health Center.

Location & Hours

We are located at 333B Red Wolf Blvd. We are next to the football stadium and share the building with the St. Bernards First Care Clinic.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Health Insurance

All students must have active health insurance to be seen at the Student Health Clinic.


If you don’t have coverage right now, we recommend checking out options through BlueCross BlueShield or HealthCare.gov.


Need care in the meantime? Local clinics like ARCare  and the Jonesboro Church Health Center offer reduced-cost services to help you stay healthy.

Making an Appointment

Call us at 870-972-2054 to schedule your appointment. Walk-ins are welcome, but you’ll be placed in the next available time slot.

What to Bring

Make sure to bring to your appointment:

  • Your A-State student ID
  • Your health insurance card 
  • A list of any medications and doses that you're taking
  • Any known allergies or medication sensitivities

Charges & Fees

Most services at the Student Health Center are covered by your health insurance. However, some services—like lab tests, immunizations, or certain procedures—may have a fee. If there is a cost, it can be billed directly to your student account. The clinic also offers special student pricing. If you ever have questions about charges, just contact us and we’ll walk you through it.

General Care & Checkups

Our primary care services include:

  • Minor illness and injury treatment
  • Physical exams
  • Immunizations
  • PAP smears
  • STI testing & pregnancy testing
  • Pregnancy prevention (birth control, condoms, etc.)

If you’ve experienced sexual assault, you’re not alone. The health center can help coordinate care and connect you with support. Forensic exams are not performed on campus, but we’ll guide you to local services and offer confidential assistance through our community partners.

Note: A-State does not cover costs for emergency transport, ER visits, prescriptions, or outside tests.

Immunizations at The NYITCOM

Certain immunizations are required for admission to A-State, while others are recommended. Here's what to know before your visit.


*Note: Some immunizations may be required depending on your program of study. Contact your academic department or the Student Health Center for more information.

Immunization / Test Required? Description
MMR (Mumps, Measles, Rubella) Yes Two doses required for admission to A-State.
Hepatitis B No* Three-dose series; may be required for certain programs. Recommended for students in specific fields of study.
Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) No* May be required for specific academic programs.
Influenza (Flu Shot) No Recommended annually. Available each fall semester at the center.
Meningitis (Menactra, Menveo, Trumenba) No Recommended for first-year students in residence halls. Available by request.
Tuberculin Skin Test No A screening test used to check for exposure to the bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB). Often required for employment or certain academic programs.

 

 

Confidentiality & Patient Rights

Just like any doctor’s office, your health records are private. Only medical staff have access to your chart. Your information is protected by patient-provider confidentiality.

We will never share your medical information without your written permission, except in rare cases where we are required to by law.

We follow strict HIPAA guidelines to keep your information safe. Your health details will not be shared with parents, faculty, or others without your consent and written authorization.

As a patient, you have the right to:

  • Be treated with respect, consideration, and dignity
  • Have your medical records and personal disclosures treated confidentially
  • Approve or refuse the release of your medical information
  • Receive information about your diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis, to the extent known
  • Participate in decisions about your healthcare
  • Express grievances or suggestions 

As a patient, you are responsible for:

  • Providing complete and accurate information about your health
  • Cooperating with your care plan and follow-up
  • Making and keeping your appointments
  • Asking questions if something is unclear
  • Treating NYITCOM staff and others with respect and consideration
  • Providing written permission before your medical information is released to another facility
  • Submitting suggestions or concerns in writing
