What should I pack to move onto campus?

We've put together a What (& What Not) to Pack list to help students prepare for moving into campus housing. We also suggest reviewing the Student Handbook for specific items allowed. Be sure to consult with your roommate about who will be bringing shared items.

How do I know who my roommates and/or suitemates are?

Log in to the Housing portal to see your roommates and suitemates along with their contact information.

What is the best way to pack my belongings?

We suggest packing in small, manageable boxes and suitcases. Be sure to label all boxes with your name, residence hall and room number. If volunteers assist, you want to be sure your items arrive in the correct room.

What furniture will be provided in my room?

Residents may view furniture provided, amenities, and approximate measurements for each residence hall here.

Do the residence halls have elevators?

Arkansas Hall, Kays Hall, University Hall and Living Learning Community Building 4 are equipped with elevators. All other communities will require the use of stairs to reach upper floors.

Can I ship items to my residence hall before Move-In Day?

Residence halls at A-State do not accept shipments. If you would like to receive mail or packages, you will want to rent a Post Office box within the U.S. Post Office, located at the Reng Student Union.

What should I expect on Move-In Day?

Campus will be busy! Please be patient as we work to help every student moving onto campus. The experience will be smoothest if you arrive during your designated time and follow the traffic flow path provided for your residence hall.

Where do I go when I arrive?

Key pickup locations will be emailed to students in advance of Move-In Day. While most residence halls will conduct key pickup in the lobby, some will have tents set up in central locations. If you are assigned an Early Move-In, please read the instructions carefully as the locations may be different.

What do I need to bring to pick up my key?

You will need your A-State ID to pick up your residence hall key -- a physical card or mobile version will work! If you set up your mobile ID in advance, your physical card will be available to pick up when you check in.

What if I cannot move in on my assigned date/time?

If you do not pick up your key during your assigned timeframe, University Housing will contact you with instructions for checking in at a later date. Please direct questions to Housing@AState.edu.

Will there be volunteers at my hall?

Volunteers are typically present at most first-year residence halls on Move-In Day; however, we suggest families create a plan as though they will be moving all items themselves. Be prepared as if there will not be volunteers, and be surprised if there are!

Where can I park?

Only vehicles with a designated A-State parking permit will be allowed in residential lots on Move-In Day. All other vehicles will be asked to park in guest parking on Marion Berry Pkwy or at First National Bank Arena. A free trolley service will be available to residence halls for guests -- view the pick-up and drop-off locations here.

Is there a time limit for unloading and setting up my room?

There is no time limit for setting up your new space; however, we ask that you be mindful of roommates, suitemates, and other residents moving in throughout the day. 

Will there be dollies or carts available for use?

Yes, there will be a limited number of dollies and small carts in each residence hall. Please be mindful to return them to the entrance or lobby area after use for other residents. You are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

What do I do with my trash, boxes, etc.?

Dumpsters will be available outside each residence hall. We ask that boxes be broken down before being placed inside the dumpster.

Is there a limit to how many people can come with me to assist on Move-In Day?

There is not a limit to how many guests can assist you on Move-In Day, but we encourage you to discuss this with your roommates and suitemates in advance to ensure everyone is able to move about in your new space as needed. Keep in mind, guests may also visit on an alternate day, so if Grandma isn't going to be moving boxes up the stairs, you might suggest she come see your room another time!

Is there a specific time my visitors have to leave on Move-In Day?

There is not a specific time visitors must leave on Move-In Day, but we encourage all students to attend the Wolves Up Week events that begin on Saturday evening. So, tell Mom & Dad you'll see them later and go make some friends!

What offices and food locations will be open on Move-In Day?

The Campus Card Center and IT Help Desk will be open 9am-2pm on Move-In Day on the first floor of the Dean B. Ellis Library to assist students with ID or mobile credential questions.

Can I move furniture out of my room?

All furniture provided by the university must remain in the resident's room.

Once I've dropped my belongings off, can I leave and return?

Yes, you are welcome to leave at any time and return to the residence hall at your convenience. Please be mindful that other residents will be arriving throughout the day, so traffic may be congested in certain areas at times.

When will I meet my Resident Assistant (RA)?

You may see your Resident Assistant during Move-In Day, but if not, don't worry! They will contact you directly to join a group texting app, so you can stay up-to-date on everything happening in your hall. They will also host a 'floor meeting' during the first weekend.

Where do I return my Room Condition Report?

Room Condition Reports may be returned to the Resident Assistants at the check-in desk or during floor meetings. If your community offers an online RCR, it should be completed within 48 hours of key pick-up.

Will there be activities before classes begin?

Yes! Wolves Up Week events will begin on Move-In Day and continue through the first week of classes. Students may also opt to participate in programs like INSPIRE, All Access A-State, NPC Sorority Recruitment, or the Student Support Services Summer Bridge Program before the semester begins. When do classes start for the Fall semester?

Classes begin Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

How do I connect to the WiFi?

Prior to Move-In Day, you will receive an email from Extreme Networks with login details for the Home@AState WiFi signal. If you have trouble getting connected, the ITS Help Desk can assist.

Does my residence hall have cable or access to watch TV?

All campus residents have access to a streaming service called Stream2 that allows students to watch on any device, anytime, anywhere on campus. Download the Stream2 app to your device or visit webplayer.mystream2.com to log in with your A-State email address and password.
