Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Tour
Begin your journey at the Dyess Colony Visitors Center, where your visit starts with a short film and exhibits that bring the New Deal-era farming community to life. From there, explore the historic Administration Building museum next door to learn how Dyess shaped young Johnny Cash and his music.
Your tour ends at the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home, lovingly restored to its 1930s appearance. Take a guided tour through the rooms where Cash grew up, and experience the place that influenced him to become a legend.

Combination Tour with Southern Tenant Farmers Museum
In 1934, during the Great Depression, Northeast Arkansas was at the center of two unique responses to the economic crisis. The federal government chose a swampland in Mississippi County as the site for Farm Resettlement Colony No. 1. A mere 15 miles away that same year, a group of 7 black, and 11 white men agreed to form a fully integrated union of tenant farmers and sharecroppers.
Combine your tour of the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home with the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum in Tyronza to learn more about the histories of Arkansas, agriculture, and the Great Depression.
