Mission

The mission of Bradbury Art Museum is to holistically support the arts and art education in our community by hosting rotating exhibitions from both local and national contemporary artists alongside accessible arts programming. Bradbury Art Museum (BAM) is a contemporary art space on the campus of Arkansas State University exhibiting art from renowned contemporary artists and providing exhibition opportunities to the artists living and working in our community.

Accessibility to the Arts

Bradbury Art Museum’s (BAM) education program serves the region by facilitating workshops, lectures, artist visits, afterschool programs, community events, tours, and informational resources to our audience. Our highest priority is to provide accessible and positive artistic experiences to a wide range of communities.

Inside the museum, our goal is to provide the educational materials and interactive activities necessary to foster art appreciation and interpretation within our culturally expanding community. We realize the importance of our role as the only art museum in Northeast Arkansas and want to ensure inhabitants of our region have the opportunity for meaningful cultural experiences without having to travel. We supply a deep trust with our audience as active participants in the exhibitions and try to expand opportunities for visitors to interact with the work beyond viewing. Most recently this included a scavenger hunt to encourage deeper inspection of symbols and icons, guided student break-out groups for deciphering meaning between various aspects of the work, community exhibitions in an education-specific gallery, and companion works fueled by community engagement and photographic submissions.

Host of Delta National Small Prints Exhibition and Inspired Exhibition

Additionally, Bradbury Art Museum is the site at which the annual Delta National Small Prints Exhibition (DNSPE) is held. DNSPE is a renowned juried exhibition of contemporary printmaking founded in 1996 by master engraver Evan Lindquist. Each year, artists from across the country and around the world apply. Purchase award winners are added to the museum’s permanent collection of small prints, which spans three decades of exhibition history.

Inspired is an annual competitive art exhibition held at Bradbury Art Museum open to high school students grade 9 - 12 serving Northeast Arkansas. Each year, local high schools are offered the opportunity to participate in Inspired. Schools schedule a visit to BAM for an interactive tour of current exhibitions where students are encouraged to draw inspiration from the artwork seen during their visit. Students respond by creating a work of their own using the medium of their choice. Along with the artwork, each submission requires a written statement clarifying the concept of the work they created. A juror will select the artwork to be included in Inspired based on both written and visual submissions. Awards are offered and announced during the opening reception of the exhibition.
