08/29/2022

JONESBORO – The university community extends sympathy to the family of emeritus faculty member Dr. Bob D. Johnson of Saltillo, Miss., who died last week.

Johnson earned his Ph.D. in zoology at Arizona State University, and joined the faculty at Arkansas State University in 1967. He taught for 31 years, retiring and being named to emeritus status in 1998.

After retirement from teaching, he became an award-winning cattle breeder. He used this opportunity to continue his involvement with young people, working with members of the Future Farmers of America in Northeast Arkansas. He relocated to Saltillo about five years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda, three children and their families, and a sister. Burial was Saturday in Jonesboro. His complete obituary is online.

The clock tower of the Dean B. Ellis Library will be lighted scarlet Tuesday evening, Aug. 30, in memorial tribute to Johnson and his contributions to higher education and Arkansas State.
