JONESBORO – Todd Clark becomes the interim Chief Communications Officer for Arkansas State University, Chancellor Todd Shields announced this week.

The associate CCO, Clark is stepping into the role vacated by Bill Smith, who was announced recently as the incoming vice president for communication at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

“We appreciate Bill’s decade of service to Arkansas State, and we know we will be in good hands with Todd Clark in the same role,” Shields said.

A farewell event for Smith is planned for 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Cooper Alumni Center.

A two-time graduate of A-State, Clark joined the university in 2006 after a brief time in the private sector. Over the past 17 years, he has held a variety of roles in the university’s communications structure.

He was promoted to associate CCO in 2021, after heading up the Digital Creative Media office which he established in 2013. Clark has grown to oversee the university’s video production unit, the official university photographer, the main institutional website, and specialty websites, along with official social media platforms.

Clark began as an Alumni Association development officer following two years in the information technology industry in central Arkansas. He completed his bachelor’s degree in management information systems at A-State in 2004, and completed his Master of Business Administration degree in 2010.

He is chair of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District IV board of directors as well as a 1924 Sustaining Life Member of the A-State Alumni Association. He also served the university as vice president of the A-State Staff Senate, serving a full term as the communications vice president for the on-campus leadership group.

Smith arrived at A-State in 2013, and helped establish the Division of Communications and Marketing.
