Theatrical Intimacy Education Workshop is Saturday

03/05/2020

JONESBORO – Laura Rikard, co-founder of Theatrical Intimacy Education (TIE), a consulting group, will conduct a workshop at Arkansas State University Saturday for students, faculty, staff and other interested parties.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Title IX and University Housing Offices at A-State.

"Theatrical intimacy training is critical work for entertainment industry professionals in the 21st century," said Marc Williams, chair of the Department of Theatre.  "We're excited that one of the industry's leaders will be here working with our students."

Founded in 2017, Theatrical Intimacy Education specializes in researching, developing and teaching best practices for staging theatrical intimacy.

"We train the whole company, department, or ensemble in TIE best practices so that they aren’t on their own when the choreographer goes home," a TIE representative said.  "This is about culture change, not just choreography."

The spokesperson also emphasized that staging theatrical intimacy should be ethical, efficient, and effective, and TIE can provide the proper training.

This workshop is available by registration only. Contact the Department of Theatre at theatre@AState.edu for more details.
