KASU Concert Series to Feature Gerry Moss and All-Stars

08/07/2019

JONESBORO – Gerry Moss and the Arkansas All-Stars will perform a concert of blues and rock music on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. at the outdoor Terry Scoggins Memorial Stage on Front Street in downtown Newport.  The show is part of the KASU/Arkansas Steel Associates Monster Groovez concert series.

These concerts are free, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs or blankets.  In case of rain, the concerts are moved into Frankie’s Place, a restaurant also on Front Street.

Moss has a five-decade career as a professional musician. He is a former, long-time resident of Arkansas who now makes his home in Massachusetts.  Moss will be joined onstage by area musicians Jerry Bone, Danny Dozier and Jason Moser to perform a mix of blues, pop, jazz and rock music.

Marty Scarbrough, program director at KASU, said, “Gerry Moss is a consummate musician, playing blues, jazz, rock and pop music with a great audience appeal.  For his concert in Newport, he’ll have a truly all-star group of area musicians joining him onstage for a performance that will be pleasing to any fan of music.”

This is the third performance of the Monster Groovez concert series that began May 21 with The Akeem Kemp Band.  Then, the husband and wife duo of Brick Fields and their band performed June 18 to rousing, often dancing participants, in downtown Newport.

Future concerts in Newport will be ‘Lectric Liz and Friends (blues), Sept. 17; and Jubilation Jazz (swing/big band), Oct. 15. All of these concerts are free thanks to the Arkansas Steel Associates and KASU.
