12/10/2021

JONESBORO — A workshop designed to improve customer service skills was hosted by Arkansas State University’s hospitality management program last week at Ozarka College in Ash Flat.

Dr. David Pearlman, associate professor and founding director of the hospitality management program at A-State, and Dr. Cliff Jones, deputy director at the Delta Center for Economic Development, were the featured speakers.

Attendees learned to understand how customer service is linked to economic vitality as well at becoming aware of what customers actually want and need. The speakers also emphasized the importance of first impressions and attitudes.

“The workshop teaches how a community-wide customer service orientation is linked to economic vitality stressing the importance of first impressions and attitudes,” said Pearlman.

Those who participated in the workshop include business executives Cassie Brantley, Robert Helm, Dawn Henning, Rachel Jones, Kari Hollis, Sarah Parka and Mandi Pope.

A-State initiated a Bachelor of Science degree program for hospitality and event tourism management following an agreement Jonesboro Hotel Partners and O’Reilly Hospitality Management.
