Honoring A-State History: May The Circle Be Unbroken


Chancellor Doug Whitlock and Arkansas State University administrators, faculty, staff and alumni honored the four families that composed The Circle during the early 1970s. As the first African American professors and administrators at Arkansas State, the area of campus where they lived in faculty housing is being replaced with four new residence halls for graduate students. The Board of Trustees voted to name the four buildings Gaines, Richmond, Smith and Strickland halls and the area as The Circle.
