Dr. Claire Kelly
Teaching Assistant Professor of Small Animal Practice
Biography
Dr. Kelly joined Arkansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Small Animal Practice in June, 2025. Dr. Kelly was born in Crystal Springs, Mississippi and lived there through high school graduation. She was accepted to veterinary school at Mississippi State University after several semesters in undergrad interspersed with working as a veterinary assistant at a clinic in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She started veterinary school at Mississippi State University in 2001, where she volunteered for many shelter spay/neuter trips to enhance her surgical skills. She also did extra externships in emergency clinics, internal medicine and orthopedic surgery to ensure she would be ready to practice upon graduation. She moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas after graduation and started in private practice. She stayed at that practice for 20 years, including owning the practice for over 17 years.
