Biography

I am from Jonesboro, Arkansas and received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Arkansas State University.  My undergraduate degree in zoology was accompanied by work in Dr. Tanja McKay’s lab assisting with stored product pest management.   This culminated with a summer position monitoring arthropod pitfall traps to compare prey availability to prey consumption in Eastern Bluebirds (Sialia sialis) in Dr. Virginie Rolland’s lab.  I immediately began my master’s that fall studying conspicuous coloration in generally cryptic frogs focusing on histological differences within and between species.  During my master’s I published several notes and papers including new distributional records, abnormalities, natural histories, and histology.  I also worked on several projects in several labs including water quality in Dr. Jerry Farris’ lab, bat ecology in Dr. Tom Risch’s lab, and floral and faunal ecology on specific mountains of the Ouachita Mountain range.  I graduated in August 2016 and began teaching as an instructor since.
