Biography

Evan Mino was appointed Assistant Principal Horn of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 2010, a position he held for two seasons. After leaving Dallas in 2012 due to an embouchure injury, Evan returned "home" to Arkansas, where he currently holds the positions of Instructor of Horn at Arkansas State University. He also maintains an active performance schedule with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Smith Symphony, Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, and many others, in addition to frequent solo and chamber recital appearances.
He was previously the horn instructor at his alma mater, the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and also at Arkansas Tech University, where his leadership led to the ATU Horn Studio becoming one of the largest and most successful in the state. His graduates from each school have had success both in entering the workforce as music educators as well as continuing on to pursue advanced degrees in performance at esteemed graduate schools across the country. Evan also maintains a studio of junior and senior high school students, many of whom frequently earn places in their respective All-Region and All-State bands.
Evan earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and his Master of Music degree in Horn Performance from Southern Methodist University, where his primary instructor was Gregory Hustis, principal horn of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He is currently nearing completion of the DMA in Horn Performance at the University of Memphis. Additional instructors include Dale Clevenger, Eric Ruske, Richard King, and William VerMeulen. Music festival appearances include the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Kent Blossom Music Festival, and Round Top Music Festival.
He is also an accomplished keyboardist, currently serving as the organist at First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith and performing collaborative pianist duties at Arkansas State University. He currently resides in Jonesboro with his adorable black Labrador, Luna.
