Recognizing Academic Achievement

The annual Convocation of Scholars at Arkansas State University gets underway every April with events recognizing outstanding students and faculty. Convocation of Scholars leads into the conclusion of the semester and spring commencement.

Numerous colleges, departments and other academic units have scheduled events throughout the month.

Student Awards

Student Awards at A-State honor exceptional achievement, leadership, and service. Each recognition reflects the dedication and impact our students make throughout their academic journey.
The Wilson Award Medal
A-State's Highest Student Honor

The Wilson Award is presented annually at the Student Honors Awards ceremony to the university's outstanding graduating senior. The recipient is selected on the basis of character, determination, involvement, and academic achievement. This honor is bestowed in memory of R.E. Lee Wilson, a member of the Arkansas State University Board of Trustees from 1917 until his death in 1933.

Presentation of the award began in 1934.

Chancellor's Scholar Award

Eligibility & Selection
Students graduating in August, December, or May of the current academic year, are eligible for consideration. If there is more than one student with the same grade point average, the selection should be based on the highest GPA for the most credit hours earned at A-State.

Department Awards

GPA and Service

Most academic departments select one (more than one only in very special cases) graduating senior (August, December, or May) in each of the degrees the department grants to receive the department award for that degree. Selection should involve both academic record (GPA must be 3.0 or higher) and activities within and contributions to the department.

Eligibility & Selection
Department Awards are nominated by the department chairs. Award recipients must have a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Each college coordinates this award and no additional application is necessary.

Faculty Awards

The Faculty Achievement Awards were created to reward our faculty who have gone above and beyond in our core mission of service to our students in the areas of teaching, mentorship, scholarship and service.
