About Dr. Amy Shollenbarger
Amy Shollenbarger, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, serves as Professor and Chair of the Department
of Communication Disorders at Arkansas State University. She earned her Master in
Communication Disorders (MCD) from Arkansas State University and her Ph.D. in Communication
Sciences and Disorders from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dedicated
to excellence in instruction, she is also ACUE-certified in effective college teaching.
Before transitioning into higher education, Dr. Shollenbarger dedicated 16 years to
serving as a speech-language pathologist in public school settings. Her diverse research
agenda encompasses child language development, stuttering, literacy, linguistic diversity,
and higher education pedagogy. Outside of her academic and leadership roles, she enjoys
gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Shollenbarger's research examines communication disorders, literacy development, and clinical education in speech-language pathology.
