A-State Closing Early Friday, March 31

Arkansas State University is canceling all on-campus classes and closing all academic and business offices at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 31, in response to the high probability of severe weather in the Jonesboro area this afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service has issued warnings for this afternoon with the high probability of extremely high wind gusts, significant severe storms and the potential for long-lasting tornadoes.

Essential personnel who maintain on-campus activities, including our University Housing and Facilities Management will continue to work on campus. If individual employees have questions regarding who is essential personnel, please check with your supervisor today.

Other Campus Closures & Cancellations

  • A-State Childhood Services will also close at 1 p.m.
  • The Reng Student Union will open as the campus’ storm shelter for university residents at 1 p.m., and will remain open until the all-clear.
  • Dining Services will continue to operate with regular dinner hours.
  • Also closing this afternoon are the Dean B. Ellis Library (online resources available 24/7) and the Red W.O.L.F. Center.
  • Evening campus events may also be cancelled. Please check with the event organizer for event status.

All campus residents are reminded to monitor official university media, including official social media accounts for updates. Alerts and weather conditions are also available at Weather.AState.edu.

Fall 2022 Graduation FAQs


Degrees and Transcripts

We understand that many of you need your official documents, but there are end-of-the-semester processes that must happen before degrees are posted.  Transcripts for Spring graduates will indicate a conferral date of February 24th or May 6th, once awarded. Students should continue to check their student email even after their coursework has ended so they do not miss important correspondence concerning their degree posting.      

Diplomas

If You Want Us to Mail Your Diploma(s)

Diplomas will not start going out in the mail until the week of June 5, 2023 and will continue to be processed for a couple of weeks thereafter. Diplomas that are mailed require the completion of a diploma authorization form. This form will be sent to the student.  Students should continue to check their student email even after their coursework has ended so they do not miss important correspondence concerning diploma distribution. Diplomas will not be issued if there is a financial hold.

If You Want to Pick Up Your Diploma(s) in Person

Diplomas can be picked up at the Registrar’s Office starting June 5, 2023. You will need to provide a photo ID. Diplomas will not be issued if there is a financial hold on your account.

Graduation Fee

This fee is required of ALL students even if not participating in the ceremony. The fee covers the processing of the paperwork, the printing of the Commencement Program, the Diploma and cover, as well as the regalia.

Leaving the Den Survey (exit survey)

Please Complete the Leaving the Den Survey to tell us about your experiences and help us improve A-State for future students. The survey will be sent to all the graduating students on August  1st .

Students should continue to check their student email so they do not miss important correspondence regarding Graduation.
