AR R&R Arkansas Recovery and Resiliency Initiative

The U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) has partnered with the Arkansas Economic Development Institute (AEDI) and the Delta Center for Economic Development at Arkansas State University (Delta Center) to create an Arkansas Recovery and Resiliency plan. The two Arkansas EDA University Centers will join forces with the eight EDA Planning and Economic Development Districts (Development Districts) in Arkansas to provide training, documentation, resources, and planning for local governments, schools, small businesses, the healthcare community, manufacturing; and other entities affected by this unprecedented pandemic.

Small Town Institute

Arkansas State University’s Small Town Institute is funded through the Economic Development Administration’s University Center Program and is operated in conjunction with the Delta Center for Economic Development.  The purpose of the Small Town Institute is to harness the intellectual knowledge and resources of the university to foster economic development in the northeast Arkansas region and to become a model of university support for small towns in distressed regions.  The Small Town Institute provides direct technical assistance to the public and private sectors coordinates support and training opportunities for small-town leaders and fosters a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation within the region.

Delta Leadership Institute

The Delta Center at Arkansas State is part of a university collaboration, administering the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) Leadership Institute.  The work of the Delta Center involves creating field experiences highlighting successful, innovative community and economic development strategies within the eight-state footprint. The Delta Center also administers the DRA Leadership Network, an alumni group of 600.  Activities include state-wide networking, professional development with institutions like the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, an annual conference and communications.
