Meet all requirements for the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) allows A-State to determine your eligibility for need-based aid, and is required by the federal government for all federal financial aid that includes grants (like the Pell Grant), scholarships and loans. Along with missing out on Arkansas Promise Plus, students and their families are likely not maximizing the financial aid they could qualify for.
A-State’s role is to support each individual with the scholarship necessary to cover up to 15 hours of tuition and mandatory fees (refer to chart below). Arkansas Promise Plus awards will vary depending upon the amount of federal grants and state scholarships that the student receives.
-
Colleges have a limit on how much financial aid a student can receive. This limit is called the Cost of Attendance (COA) — it includes things like tuition, housing, meals, books, personal expenses and transportation.
-
In Arkansas, when a student receives scholarships, grants, loans, work-study, or tuition assistance, all that money cannot exceed their cost of attendance.
-
If your total aid is higher than the cost of attendance, A-State will lower certain scholarships or other aid, so your financial aid package total fits within this amount.
The mandatory fees that are eligible to be covered by the Arkansas Promise Plus Program (up to 15 hours) are listed in the chart below:
