Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Information
The CARES Act Response Team (CART) has been working the past two weeks to develop a process to distribute the $4.6M in CARES Act student aid. We anticipate distributing these funds to eligible students soon unless we receive new guidance from the Department of Education that makes that time frame impractical. Also, as soon as we know the eligibility requirements and if there will be an additional application, we will make that information available. If there is a change you will hear it directly from the University. Please note that the 2019-2020 is the FAFSA year that needs to be completed. As of now, only currently enrolled students for the Spring 2020 semester are eligible for CARES Act Student Aid.
Spring 2020 Institutional Scholarship Recipients:
Due to the COVID-19 national emergency, your Institutional Scholarship will automatically be renewed for the 20-21 academic award year. This includes anyone that participates in the new Credit/No Credit policy. https://www.astate.edu/safety/novel-coronavirus/credit-no-credit/

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the following changes are in effect as of March 23, 2020:
- The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is closed to student traffic until April 20. As a result, we will be unable to accept documents in person.
- Documents may also be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Due to privacy concerns, we strongly recommend that you only use your Astate email account to submit documents to us via email.
- We will also accept documents via mail or fax. Please be aware that there may be a delay in processing mailed or faxed documents. We will do our best to process those documents within one week.
- For now, our office is working remotely. If you need to contact our office, please email us at email@example.com. One of our Financial Aid Counselors will get back to you within 24 business hours.
Students who are facing unexpected financial hardship due to COVID-19 are encouraged to contact the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships at firstname.lastname@example.org. Financial Aid will work to determine what, if any, supplemental financial support may be provided.
