About Comprehensive Transition and Postsecondary Programs
Comprehensive Transition and Postsecondary, or CTP, programs are college-based programs designed specifically for students with intellectual disabilities.
CTP programs were created through the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. These programs allow eligible students with intellectual disabilities to access certain forms of federal student aid when attending an approved program, even if they do not have a standard high school diploma or are not pursuing a traditional degree.
CTP programs are
- Offered by an institution of higher education
- Acknowledged by the institution’s accrediting body
- Certified by the U.S. Department of Education
These programs help prepare students for employment, independence, and community participation through inclusive college experiences.
Programs
3D Program - Culinary Arts, Hospitality, and Baking
The University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College’s 3D Program offers young adults with Intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) post-secondary education and preparation for employment through its certificate programs. The 3D program promotes and assists in life skill and technical skill development in the areas of culinary arts, hospitality, and baking. It is a post-high school program.
This is an 81-credit-hour program which is roughly equal to a 3-year program. Upon completion of the program, you may be awarded a Certificate of Completion in Culinary, Certificate of Completion in Baking, or Certificate of Completion in Hospitality.
This program qualifies for CTP and has access to federal financial aid.
No housing is available for this program.
Approximately 6-8 students are admitted every fall semester.
