UPDATED: Arkansas State To Close Friday Due To Weather Forecast

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University will close on Friday, Dec. 6, due to the impending winter weather. A-State is open for the rest of Thursday’s normal schedule.

“With the forecast for significant winter weather, we believe it is in the best interest of our students, faculty and staff to be proactive,” Chancellor Tim Hudson said.

All Thursday final exams, including Thursday evening exams, will be conducted as scheduled according to university Provost Lynita Cooksey.

The Jonesboro offices will be closed starting Friday morning, as well as offices at the Paragould campus.

Final exams set for Friday, Dec. 6, are rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11.

In response to the change of finals from Friday to next Wednesday, the residence hall closing deadline of noon on Wednesday, Dec. 11, is extended until Thursday, Dec. 12, at noon.

With campus closed Friday, the Acansa Dining Hall remains open, but switch to weekend brunch hours.

Graduation for A-State students on the Beebe campus originally set for Friday evening is postponed. The ASU-Beebe campus is postponing its graduation.

In addition to closure on Friday, the A-State Library, including the ITS Computer Lab, and ASU Museum will be closed on Saturday.

The A-State Music Department’s Friday and Saturday evening performances of the Madrigal Feaste are cancelled.

Among events hosted by A-State this weekend, the SAT and LSAT exams scheduled for Saturday are postponed.

In addition, Sunday’s Holiday Spectacular at the Fowler Center is cancelled.
