Sympathy Extended to Family and Associates of Harriet O'Neal, emeritus music instructor

The university community extends sympathy to the family and former associates of emeritus instructor Harriet O'Neal who died Nov. 10.

JONESBORO – The university community extends sympathy to the family, friends and former associates of Harriet O'Neal of Jonesboro, emeritus instructor of music, who died Nov. 10.

O'Neal served on the A-State faculty for a total of 28 years, initially from 1961 to 1964 and again from 1975 until her retirement in 2000. She taught piano, music theory and organ. She also performed with various music faculty ensembles and was a prominent musician in the community, including playing piano for the Dixieland group, "Over the Hill Gang."

She completed her master's degree in piano and music literature at the Eastman School of Music, and her bachelor's degree in piano performance at Southwestern (now Rhodes) in Memphis.
