COLUMBUS, Ga. — Arkansas State University’s softball team finished pool play and will face Iowa State Saturday morning to begin the double elimination round in the 2018 National Club Softball Association (NCSA) World Series. The game starts at 9 a.m. CT at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus.

The Red Wolves, who came into the tournament as the top seed, started pool play on a strong note by defeating Rutgers, 13-3, then fell to Central Michigan, 5-3, in the second game. A-State rebounded in Pool A’s final game with an 8-5 win over San Diego State.

“Lydia Mitchell went five for nine and Rachel Hinson went seven for 12 at the plate today to lead the team,” said head coach Keith Hinson. “We also got crucial hits from Kiana Cole and Breanna Shaffer to help clinch the win against Rutgers. Pitchers Bailey Bradford and Jacie Woods picked up the two wins for us.”

Following pool play, all teams were reseeded and Arkansas State goes into bracket play seeded sixth, while Iowa State is 11th.
