01/25/2017

JONESBORO – The Department of Music at Arkansas State University will present the third concert in the 2016-17 Faculty Recital Series on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m.  It will be in the Fowler Center, Riceland Hall, and is free to the public.

The program will feature many faculty members, as well as a guest artist.  Dr. Lauren Schack Clark, piano, will open the program with a performance of “Sonata No. 1” by Alberto Ginastera.  Dr. Dale Clark, bassoon, will join her on stage for a performance of “Recit, Sicilienne, et Rondo” by Eugene Bozza.

Daniel Strawser, cello, will then come to the stage and perform “Suite no. 3 in C Major for Unaccompanied Cello, BWV 1009” by J.S. Bach.

After a brief intermission, Matthew Carey, baritone, along with tenor guest artist, Limmie Pulliam, will sing “Au fond du temple saint” from "Les pêcheurs de perles" by Georges Bizet.  Finally, Bethania Baray, soprano, will join Carey in a performance of “Figlia! Mio Padre!” and “Deh non parlare al misero” from "Rigoletto" by Giuseppi Verdi.

The Bradbury Art Museum will be open during intermission for the public to enjoy.  It is currently featuring three exhibitions: the "Delta National Small Prints Exhibition," "Local Color" and "NurtureNature."
