Music Department to present Annual Honors Recital
JONESBORO – The Music Department at Arkansas State University will present the annual Student Honors Recital during Convocation of Scholars on Monday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Center’s Riceland Hall.
Participants in this year’s recital are:
- Taylor Watkins of Jonesboro, baritone
- Xin Ying Kong of Penang, Malaysia, piano
- Red Wolves Bassoon Quartet: Brianna Allen of Jonesboro, Lynnley Dodd of Batesville, Lane Hall of Ash Flat, and Zachary Lynn of Jonesboro
- Quaine Hogan of Jonesboro, tenor
- Leyandra Snyder of Boise, Idaho, violin
- Four Cats Woodwind Quartet: Lynlie Simpson of Jonesboro, flute; Caroline Cato of Bryant, oboe; Josh Taylor of Bryant, clarinet; and Brianna Allen of Jonesboro, bassoon
- Kimberly Troup of West Memphis, soprano
- Double Reed Trio: Sergio Rodriguez of Greenwood, Miss., oboe; Zachary Lynn of Jonesboro, bassoon; Xin Ying Kong of Penang, Malaysia, piano
- Novus Brass Quintet: Harrison Bruner of Highland, horn; Josh Hickman of Powell, Tenn., trumpet; Austin Merriman of Highland, trumpet; Ryan Baldwin of Paragould, trombone; and John May of Paragould, tuba.
The students will perform selections by Handel, Debussy, Mozart, Bruch, Jean Francaix, Molly Carew, Francois Poulenc and Victor Ewald.
The collaborative pianists for the recital are Dennis Hay and Hunter Mabery. The students auditioned and were chosen for this concert by a select panel of judges representing the Music Department.
Awards and privately funded scholarships will be announced at the recital, followed by a reception in the Fowler Center’s Grand Hall. Fowler Center is at 201 Olympic Dr.
