JONESBORO – KASU 91.9 FM, the public media service of Arkansas State University, will host “Trolley Day with KASU and Jonesboro Economical Transportation” (JET) from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, during A-State Welcome Week.

The festivities will be held in the parking lot on the south side of the Dean B. Ellis Library, next to the book drop-off. Students, faculty, staff and other visitors can tour one of the unique, new trolleys and enjoy free pizza courtesy of La Torica Brick Oven Pizza in Jonesboro.

Attendees can also take a turn on the “spinning wheel” for KASU-branded prizes.

“We are excited to partner with KASU. Connecting with the A-State student population is one of the many ways we continue to be community-driven,” said Lee Wells, JET director.

“KASU is proud to partner with JET and the City of Jonesboro to raise awareness about our public transportation system and the services it provides,” said Mark Smith, KASU station manager.

“KASU is honored to be a part of this community and always enjoys the opportunity to promote the great things happening here.”

JET offers bus routes, paratransit and trolley service for Jonesboro and the A-State campus. JET also provides service from downtown Jonesboro to A-State athletic events on the Red Wolf Express. Details can be found online

KASU is Arkansas’ oldest non-commercial public radio station, operating since 1957. The station has been an NPR member station since 1971. In addition to locally produced news and music programs, KASU pays to receive programming from NPR, American Public Media and other sources.

This event was originally planned for May 2 but was postponed due to inclement weather.
