Jonesboro Community Invited to Paint the Town Red During Annual Celebration Supporting A-State

JONESBORO – The Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce (JRCC) will kickoff the annual Paint the Town Red Week (PTTR) on Monday, Aug. 25. The festivities will culminate with the Great A-State Block Party, to be held from 5 – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, on Main St. in downtown Jonesboro.  
 
“We are excited to partner with members of the community and A-State to celebrate Paint the Town Red Week,” said Cody Slater, vice president of chamber programs at JRCC.  
 
The week will begin with a PTTR proclamation from Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver.  
 
As part of the week of festivities, the A-State Committee with JRCC will visit a local middle school for a pep rally that will feature representatives from A-State athletics. 
 
Each year, local businesses can participate in decorating contests. This year, there is a contest for students on campus at A-State as well. Judging for the community contest will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Campus designs will be judged on Thursday, Aug. 28. 
 
Order of the Pack will be held from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Centennial Bank Stadium. Organized by the Student Activities Board, this event is held to welcome students back to campus and to welcome the new class to the Red Wolves family.  
 
On Friday, Aug. 29, The Great A-State Tailgate will be held on Main St. From 5-9:00 p.m. and will feature Mayor Harold Copenhaver; Chancellor Dr. Todd Shields; Butch Jones, Red Wolves head coach; Chris Pezman, Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics; Howl and Scarlet; A-State Band, The Sound of the Natural State; as well as some members of the Red Wolves football team; and coaches and players from other A-State Athletic Programs. 

PTTR is made possible through the help of sponsors. The presenting sponsor is St. Bernards 125th, with supporting sponsors Ramsons Construction Co., Gearhead Outfitters, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Arkansas State University. In-kind sponsors are Hedges Portable Toilet and Running Springs Custom Merchandise.
