Faculty and Staff Starting Blue & You Fitness Challenge

02/26/2015

JONESBORO – A-State faculty and staff are getting ready for the Blue & You Fitness Challenge, the annual three-month activity frenzy.

A-State will compete against other teams of similar size by earning points for exercise.  Thirty points are awarded to complete the Challenge, but more than 180 points are possible.

"Of course, the real competition is ourselves," says Spencer Bradley, director of Red Wolf Wellness.  "Whether you’re an experienced athlete who wants more or a newbie who wants to get on track, the Challenge is an opportunity to prioritize your health and put yourself first. Plus, there are prizes for participants."

Registration is open through Saturday, Feb. 28.  One may secure a spot in the Challenge in four easy steps:

  1. Going to BlueandYouFitnessChallenge-Ark.com
  2. Select “Register”
  3. Enter A-State's group code: [ASU]
  4. Completing the entry form

Participants can warm up for the challenge Friday, Feb. 27, during walk/run sessions starting at 11 a.m. and 12 noon in the Health, Physical Education and Sport Sciences building, second floor basketball courts.  Water, healthy snacks and maps will be provided.

When the Challenge starts on Sunday, March 1, participants will start logging their exercise.

"It’s so easy to participate, you’ll be your favorite project," Bradley added.

The Fitness Challenge is a program of Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Arkansas Department of Health.
