Board Approves Faculty Promotions and Tenure

JONESBORO – Twenty-one faculty members at Arkansas State University have been promoted and 11 have attained tenure, announced Dr. Lynita Cooksey, provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research.

The ASU Board of Trustees today approved recommendations from the Promotion, Retention and Tenure Committee and university administration.  The actions are effective with the beginning of the 2016-17 academic year.

Faculty who were promoted are listed (in alphabetic order) with their new academic rank, and tenure is indicated where appropriate:

  • Nicole Arnell to associate professor, and tenure, art
  • Annette Bednar, tenure, clinical laboratory sciences
  • Dr. Claudia Benavides to associate professor, and tenure, sports management
  • Dr. Jennifer Bouldin to professor, environmental biology
  • Dr. Amy Buzby to associate professor, and tenure, political science

  • Dr. Maureen Dolan, tenure, biological sciences
