ASU Theatre Announces Cast and Crew for ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,’ Nov. 15-16, 18-20

JONESBORO – The Arkansas State University Theatre is announcing the cast and crew of the November production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz.

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” will be performed at Fowler Center Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15‑16, and Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 18-20.  Performances start at 7:30 p.m. except for Saturday, Nov. 16, which is a morning show starting at 10.

With book, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (revised)” opened on Broadway in 1999.  It is a fresh approach to the all-time 1967 classic.  Sally Brown joins Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder and Snoopy in this version.

The ASU Theatre’s production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is under the stage direction of Lisa Bohn, assistant professor of theatre.

The cast includes Clint Stevens, a junior theatre major from Huntsville, as Charlie Brown; Jacob George, a sophomore theatre major from El Dorado, as Schroeder; Heidi Sohl, a freshman theatre major from Benton, as Lucy; Sarah Ring, a junior theatre major from Cabot, as Sally; Dru Ergle, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro, as Snoopy; and  Drew Brown, a freshman theatre major from Jonesboro, as Linus.

Emily Tucker, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, Payton Overturf, a junior theatre major from Cabot, Jaelyn Epps, a sophomore theatre major from Little Rock, and Fallon Howley, a freshman theatre student from Sherwood, will make up the Ensemble.

Scenic design will be by Vanessa Williams, a junior theatre major from Cabot, and lighting design will be by Cody Campbell, a junior theatre major from Jonesboro.

Claire Abernathy, assistant professor of theatre, will serve as costume designer.  Jeremy Smith, a sophomore theatre major from Dumas, will serve as sound designer.  Ashley Pratt, a junior theatre major from El Dorado, will serve as prop master.  Jordan Phillips, a senior theatre major from El Dorado, has been appointed light board operator, and Evan Palumbo, a senior theatre major from Salem, will serve as the master electrician.

Sophie Hedge, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, is serving as wardrobe head, and Justin Almager from El Dorado, Betsy Hegger from Jonesboro, and Hayden Walton from Jonesboro will serve as the wardrobe crew.  Rachel Palumbo from Salem and Sydney Hill from Lamar have been appointed to the makeup crew, and Tyler Gillespie from Dumas and Frankie Pitts from Bryant will serve as the backstage crew.

Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Paul Cootes, a junior theatre major from Hornersville, Mo.  Molly Dobbs from Jonesboro and Mickey Yones from Alma will serve as assistant stage managers. 

A “meet the company” dessert reception will follow the Friday, Nov. 15, opening night performance.

Tickets for reserved seating may be purchased in advance at the Central Box Office in the Convocation Center, 217 Olympic Dr., or by calling 972-ASU1 (2781).  Tickets also are available online at tickets.astate.edu. 

Reserved seating tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance.  Ticket prices are $10, or $8 in advance.  Because of the popularity of the show, advanced reservations are highly recommended.

Children under six years old are not admitted to The ASU Theatre.  Patrons are asked to arrive early; latecomers will not be seated until intermission.
