JONESBORO — The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) will conduct two online marketing workshops for small businesses Thursday, Sept. 6, at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development, 319 University Loop Circle.

The Social Media Marketing Basics” workshop will run from 9-11:30 a.m. and is a two-and-a-half workshop designed as an introduction to social media marketing on networks such as Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, and Twitter.  Topics will include an overview of the most popular networks, why social media has become an important marketing tool for small businesses, how to determine whether it is right for an organization, how to choose the right networks, how social media has changed the way small businesses connect with customers, and how to integrate social into a marketing plan.

“Advanced Online Marketing Strategies” will run from 1-4 p.m.  Social media is only a part of a successful online marketing strategy.  In this workshop attendees will learn the importance of websites, use of mobile by today’s consumers, integrating e-mail, claiming local search as well as expanding social media marketing.  Small business owners will also learn about time saving online tools to monitor, schedule and share information with customers.

The workshop will also include tips about simple tools to create and share content, such as images and video, which will build relationships between owners and customers.  Even if a business is using social media, this workshop will teach users to leverage all the tools available through the Internet effectively and for little or no cost.

Registration is $35 per attendee per session, ($25 for Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro Association members and $20 for ASU faculty, staff and students).  Attendees may also sign up for both workshops for $60 ($40 for Chamber and DJA members and $30 for ASU faculty, staff and students).
