Area High School Students Win A-State Communications Day Awards
JONESBORO — Greene County Tech High School of Paragould won the overall sweepstakes award Saturday, March 5, at the 78th Annual Communication Day at Arkansas State University. Buffalo Island Central High School was named first runner-up, followed by Armorel High School, second runner-up, and Valley View third runner-up. Students competed in more than 20 newspaper, web, communications, debate and video competitions.

Arkansas State’s College of Media and Communication combines a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences with a core of professional courses to give students the knowledge base and skill set needed to succeed in communications. Studies in the college allow students to learn to gather, organize, synthesize and communicate information professionally in a democratic, multi-cultural society.
They learn to think critically and communicate effectively in preparation for productive roles in news, radio, television, film, public relations, social media management, organizational communication, advertising, photojournalism, graphic communications, web and multimedia production and design or health communication.
The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism & Mass Communications (ACEJMC) certifies the college for A-State’s undergraduate programs in journalism and radio-television.
