A-State Theatre to Present Musical Favorite ‘Cinderella’ in Four Performances

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University's Department of Theatre will conclude the 2024-2025 season with a production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” a musical with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and a new book by Douglas Carter Beane.

Performances in Fowler Center's Drama Theatre, 201 Olympic Dr., are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25; 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27.

“Cinderella” is a beloved musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale. It tells the story of Cinderella, a kind-hearted young woman who dreams of escaping her servitude and attending the royal ball. Cinderella's wish comes true with the help of her Fairy Godmother, but she must leave the ball before midnight, leaving behind only a glass slipper. Prince Charming is determined to find the mysterious woman who captured his heart, leading to a magical and enchanting tale of love, hope, and the power of believing in oneself.

The cast includes Emily Provence of Searcy, as Ella; Isaiah Wallis of Harrison, as Topher; Haley Reed of Bay, as Marie; Kat McDaniel of Paragould, as Madame; Judith Bossi of Batesville, as Charlotte; Kelly Clarke of Johannesburg, South Africa, as Gabrielle; Luke Holt of Jonesboro, as Sebastian; Max Emery of Newport, as Lord Pinkleton; and Adam Arizaga of Russellville, as Jean-Michel.

The ensemble includes Evan Bishop of Trumann, Emma Bryant of Siloam Springs, Libby Wills of Russellville, William Hankins of Pocahontas, Leah Max of Covington, Tenn., and Cristal Martinez of Batesville, with additional voices provided by pit singers Zane Brewer of Conway, Connor Moore of Jonesboro, Alaina Gibbons of Howell, Mich., Ella Murray of Paragould, Quaine Hogan, voice faculty, of Jonesboro, Tristan Barnum of Searcy, and Tessa Yielding of Sherwood.

The artistic team includes Dallas Martinez, artistic producing director, director; Dr. Kristin Sullivan, music director; Brianna Larson, assistant professor of theatre, choreographer; Jeff McLaughlin, associate professor of theatre, scenic designer; Caisa Sanburg, associate professor of theatre, sound and lighting designer; Claire Abernathy, professor of theatre, costume designer; Angeline Able of Austin, Texas, assistant costume designer; Emalee Gillean of Jonesboro, stage manager; Baylor McElhaney of Bauxite, Olin Hahn of Jonesboro, and Ella Scott of Jonesboro, assistant stage managers; Selena Hinds of Jonesboro, assistant lighting designer; and DayDay Robinson, assistant professor of theatre, intimacy choreographer.

The production team includes Urusha Pandey of Kathmandu, Nepal, properties manager; Donovan Walters of Harrison, light board operator; Lynzee Owens of Clarksville, mix engineer A1; RJ Moad of Leachville, A2; Niko Stark of Searcy and Rayleigh Pratt of Clarksville, spotlight operators; Jordyn Counts of Paragould, Jace Hahn of Jonesboro, and Skylar Hilderbrand of Jonesboro, wardrobe crew; River Ewert of Jonesboro, backstage crew; and Ryan Carr of Bono, house manager.

Tickets may be purchased 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at the A-State Box Office in First National Bank Arena or by calling (870) 972-2781. Tickets may also be purchased online at AState.edu/tickets. Prices are $15 for the general public.

A-State student tickets are free at the box office with a student ID. It is recommended that patrons reserve seats in advance.
