Prior to attending New Student Orientation, an academic advisor will contact you to discuss fall schedule planning. Be sure to share your academic major interest and notify the advisor of any college credit you have earned. This information will be helpful as the two of you work together to create your fall schedule. Schedules will be finalized at NSO.
Preparing for your NSO Advising Session
Be sure to have your AP and concurrent credits sent to A-State to become part of your official record before the Fall semester begins. You will want to have a list of these college credits available for your advising session. Your academic advisors will provide information about your degree plan in your advising session so that going forward, you will know which courses to select. Most first year schedules include General Education courses as well as a First Year Experience (FYE) course. Some students will also take introductory courses within their major. First Year Experience is a college success course required of all incoming students during their first semester. This course serves as an extended orientation and acquaints students with college resources, study skills, degree information and is coupled with campus activities.
