This certificate provides students interested in gaining experience in the practical and administrative aspects of the fitness industry with courses intended to prepare them for management positions in fitness. This includes, but is not limited to, managerial positions for gyms or health centers, fitness consultancy positions, and entrepreneurial careers in fitness.

  • Program goals and objectives

    The goal of this certificate is to prepare students for future management careers in the fitness industry. The objectives for this goal are as follows

    1. Prepare students to oversee interventions into workplace wellness, aerobic fitness, and nutrition.
    2. Train students to identify legal risks in the fitness industry
    3. Teach students how to manage the financial aspects of a fitness organization
    4. Direct students in how to create marketing initiatives for their own fitness programs
  • Expected student learning outcomes

    After completing the courses in this certificate, students will be able to:

    1. Program effective workplace wellness regimes
    2. Devise unique marketing promotions for fitness and athletics
    3. Articulate liability risks and basic contract requirements in the fitness industry
    4. Evaluate aerobic conditioning and nutritional interventions
    5. Compose a budget for a fitness-based business
