ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Arkansas State University (A-State) Early College Program is an integral part of the university. As part of University College, this program provides early access paths for high school students wishing to explore or pursue a college degree prior to high school graduation. The Early College Program is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) and the Arkansas Department of Education – Division of Higher Education. The Early College Program provides four structured paths for high school students to attend college while still in high school.

  • The Concurrent Enrollment Program provides concurrent courses which are typically taught by A-State credentialed high school instructors, on the high school campus, and provide concurrent credit through transcription on the high school and A-State transcript. In some cases, online delivery by A-State faculty may be used. Tuition for these courses is assessed at the concurrent rate.
  • The Campus Concurrent Program provides concurrent courses taught on the A-State campus by A-State faculty members. These courses are transcribed on both the high school and A-State transcript. Tuition for these courses is assessed at the concurrent rate.
  • The UpSkill Program provides concurrent coding courses taught by A-State faculty using an online instructional platform. These courses are transcribed on both the high school and A-State transcript. Tuition for these courses is assessed at the concurrent rate.
  • The Early Entrance Program provides students desiring to graduate high school early an opportunity to complete courses necessary to fulfill high school graduation requirements. Tuition for these courses is assessed at the current A-State tuition rate.
