LILLIAN BARTON SCHOLARSHIP
The Lillian Barton Scholarship is named in honor of a special educator. Miss Barton
rendered service to the teaching profession for more than 50 years. She was a public
school teacher, school administrator, and teacher educator. She has been characterized
as a dedicated professional and a gracious lady. Miss Barton provided active and inspirational
leadership to Eta Delta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi for many years; therefore, it seems
only fitting that this chapter assume responsibility for the administration of the
Lillian Barton Memorial Scholarship Fund. To finance the scholarships, an endowment
was established by donations from relatives of Miss Barton, friends, and organizations.
The interest from the endowment provides scholarships for deserving teacher education
majors. The recipients are selected on the bases of GPA and evidence of professional
promise. The scholarship is awarded in the fall and spring semesters. Those submitting
