Arkansas State University is a public, brick-and-mortar institution located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and is authorized under Arkansas state law. A-State participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). More information about NC-SARA is available at nc-sara.org. Licensure Statement
Licensure rules are set by each state’s own licensing authorities, and students must meet those requirements to become licensed in that state. Federal regulations require universities to notify prospective students whether a licensure related program meets the educational standards for licensure in the place where the student lives. Arkansas State University follows these regulations and reviews its licensure programs to determine where they appear to meet state requirements. Since state requirements can change at any time and may do so without direct notice to institutions, students should regularly check with the licensing authority in their state to confirm that the program satisfies current licensure expectations. This should be done before applying, while enrolled, and any time a student considers moving to another state or U.S. territory.
Out-of-State Relocation
Students enrolled in programs that lead to licensure should communicate with their advisor before making any plans to move to another state. Advisors can assist in reviewing authorization and licensure requirements that may apply if a student changes their state of residence while completing the program. Because each state sets its own licensure rules, relocating may impact a student’s ability to meet those requirements or remain eligible for federal financial aid. Before moving, students should contact the licensing board in the state where they intend to seek licensure to confirm eligibility or possible reciprocity.
Applicants are required to provide their current residential address when applying for admission.
Students must also inform their advisor or program coordinator of the state in which they will reside while enrolled at Arkansas State University. If a student relocates to another state during their program, the change in location must be reported to both the student’s advisor and the Registrar’s Office.
