JONESBORO – KASU, Arkansas State University's public media service, is partnering with Arkansas Music Experience (AME) to host the inaugural Music Industry Meet-Up in Jonesboro. This event will run from 6 - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Brickhouse Bar and Grill, 218 South Main St. in downtown Jonesboro. All area musicians and those involved in the local music industry are invited to attend this free gathering. AME exists to celebrate, preserve and elevate the rich musical heritage of Arkansas while empowering today’s artists and communities. This goal is accomplished by connecting artists, managers, promoters, venue owners, media professionals, and community stakeholders to advance local talent and industry growth. AME has hosted multiple Music Industry Meet-Up events in Arkansas, including in Fayetteville, Conway and Little Rock. The event on Oct. 27 will be the first gathering in Jonesboro or anywhere in eastern Arkansas. Musicians in all styles and genres and musicians of all ages are invited to attend. Anyone involved in industries that support live music is also invited to attend. Those include photographers, graphic designers, sound reinforcement companies, recording studios, booking agents, radio stations, merchandise producers, music teachers and videographers. Booth space for such vendors will be available. Marty Scarbrough, KASU program director, recently attended an Industry Meet-Up in Fayetteville and is excited to see the program branch into northeast Arkansas. “The atmosphere at that event was amazing. There were hundreds of musicians all together in one room, with people from across generations and across musical genres all supporting and encouraging one another,” he said. More information about the event is available online. Vendors may also register through that website. KASU supports Arkansas musicians through its long-running Arkansas Roots radio program. This show features recordings from the past and present by Arkansas-connected musical acts in virtually all styles and genres. The program airs on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. |
