HPMEC to Host Day Camp in June, Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary

JONESBORO – To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States,
the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC) will host two day camps
in June.
“Painting the American Story” will be held from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Thursday, June
18, for those ages 9 to 12 years old. The second camp will be on Friday, June 19,
for those ages 13 to 17.
“Campers will tour the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and the Matilda and Karl Pfeiffer
Museum. They will learn to paint on canvas, creating their own America 250-themed
masterpiece to take home,” said Shannon Williams, director of HPMEC.
The event fee is $145, and all materials and supplies will be provided. Snacks and
lunch for the day will be provided through a sponsorship. Williams said that Arkansas
Education Freedom Account funds may also be used.
HPMEC is located at 1913 Museum Row in Piggott.
